SECTION 1 — DLT Basics & Fundamentals
Q01. What is DLT? What does DLT stand for in SMS?
DLT stands for Distributed Ledger Technology. It is a blockchain-based regulatory platform mandated by TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) under the TCCCPR 2018 regulations to govern all commercial SMS communications in India.
Think of DLT as India's centralized 'SMS passport system'. Every business that wants to send bulk SMS must register three things on DLT:
1. Entity Registration — who you are (your business identity)
2. Header (Sender ID) — what name appears on the recipient's phone
3. SMS Template — the pre-approved message format you will send
Without all three registered and approved, no commercial SMS will be delivered — whether it is an OTP, a bank alert, or a promotional campaign.
🔗 See also: How to Register on DLT → FAQ 03
🔗 See also: DLT Platforms in India → FAQ 06
Q02. Is DLT registration mandatory? Can I send SMS without DLT?
Yes, DLT registration is 100% mandatory. Under TRAI's TCCCPR (Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations) 2018, every business — startup, SME, enterprise, or government body — that sends commercial SMS must be registered on a DLT platform.
Without DLT registration, your SMS messages will be blocked by telecom operators automatically. This applies to:
• OTP / Authentication messages
• Transactional alerts (bank, e-commerce, delivery)
• Promotional campaigns
• Service notifications
The February 2025 TRAI amendment further strengthened enforcement — biometric authentication was added to the registration process and stricter UCC mechanisms were introduced.
⚠️ Warning: Non-DLT registered senders face immediate SMS blocking AND risk blacklisting for up to 2 years across all telecom operators in India.

Q03. How to register on DLT? Complete step-by-step process
DLT registration involves 5 key steps:
STEP 1 — Entity Registration:
Visit any DLT portal (VILPower, Jio Trubloq, Airtel DLT, etc.) and sign up as a Principal Entity. Provide your business PAN, authorized person details, upload required documents, and pay ₹5,000 registration fee. Approval: 72 hours.
STEP 2 — Header (Sender ID) Registration:
Register your 6-character alphanumeric Sender ID (e.g., SMSGWH for transactional) or 6-digit numeric (for promotional). Approval: 60 minutes.
STEP 3 — SMS Template Registration:
Register every message format as a pre-approved template. Mark fixed content and variables clearly. Approval: 60 minutes.
STEP 4 — Link Your SMS Provider (Telemarketer):
Add SMSGatewayHub (or your SMS provider) as your Telemarketer on the DLT portal so they can send on your behalf.
STEP 5 — CTA / URL Whitelisting (Mandatory from Oct 2024):
Whitelist every URL, phone number, and app link used inside your SMS templates.
✅ Pro Tip: SMSGatewayHub provides free DLT registration guidance with every account. Our experts review documents, write templates, and ensure fast approval. Visit smsgatewayhub.com to get started.

Q04. What are the DLT registration fees in India?
Here is the complete DLT fee structure as mandated by TRAI:
| Registration Type | Fee (INR) | Notes |
|---|
| Principal Entity (PE) Registration | ₹5,000 / year | Mandatory for all businesses |
| Telemarketer Aggregator (TM-AF) | ₹5,000 one-time | SMS aggregators / resellers |
| Telemarketer Delivery (TM-DF) | ₹5,000 + ₹50,000 deposit | For operators with direct connectivity |
| Header / Sender ID Registration | Operator-specific | Per header submitted |
| SMS Template Registration | Operator-specific | Per template |
| CTA / URL Whitelisting | Free (via DLT portal) | Mandatory from Oct 1, 2024 |
📌 Note: All fees are non-refundable (except the TM-DF security deposit). The ₹50,000 security deposit for TM-DF is refundable upon de-registration. Fees are the same across all DLT platforms.

Q05. What documents are required for DLT registration?
The following documents are required to register as a Principal Entity on DLT:
Mandatory for All Entities:
• Business PAN Card
• GST Registration Certificate (recommended)
• Proof of Identity of Authorized Person (Aadhaar/Passport)
• Business Address Proof (utility bill or rent agreement)
Entity-Type Specific:
• Private/Public Ltd Company: Certificate of Incorporation + MOA/AOA
• Partnership Firm: Partnership Deed
• LLP: LLP Agreement + Certificate of Incorporation
• Trust/NGO: Trust Deed / Registration Certificate
If Registering via Telemarketer:
• Letter of Authorization (LoA) signed by authorized signatory
• LoA must include: entity name, signatory name + designation, purpose, TM name
Government Entities:
• Letter of Intent / Agreement from Central or State Govt
• SEBI Certificate (if SEBI-registered entity)
⚠️ Warning: Blurry, incomplete, or mismatched documents are the #1 cause of registration delays (72-hour re-verification cycle). Ensure all scans are clear and match PAN details exactly.
SECTION 2 — Platforms, Entities & Roles
Q06. Which DLT platforms are available in India? Which one should I choose?
India has 6 TRAI-approved DLT platforms, each operated by a major telecom provider:
| DLT Platform | Website | Operator | Best For |
|---|
| VILPower (Vodafone Idea) | vilpower.in | All operators | Most features, CTA whitelisting |
| Jio Trubloq | trubloq.com | Jio | Fast UI, popular with SMEs |
| Airtel DLT | airtel.in/dlt | Airtel | Quick approval turnaround |
| TATA DLT | tatatele.com/dlt | TATA Tele | Enterprise focused |
| SmartPing | smartping.live | BSNL | Govt sector preferred |
| MTNL DLT | mtnl.net.in | MTNL | Mumbai & Delhi coverage |
Which platform to choose?
• For most businesses: VILPower or Jio Trubloq — best UI and fastest approvals
• For BSNL-heavy corridors: SmartPing
• For enterprise/large enterprise: TATA DLT
Key fact: Register on ANY ONE platform. Your Entity ID is automatically shared across all platforms via blockchain — you reach all networks (Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL, TATA) with a single registration.

Q07. What is a Principal Entity (PE) in DLT?
A Principal Entity (PE) is the business or organization that sends commercial SMS to end-subscribers. It is the ultimate owner of the registered headers (Sender IDs) and templates.
Who qualifies as a Principal Entity?
• Individual / Sole Proprietor
• Partnership Firm
• Private / Public / Govt. Limited Company
• Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
• Trust, Association, Security & Club (TASC)
• Government Entity
Key PE responsibilities:
• Register and maintain DLT account (₹5,000/year)
• Register all Sender IDs and SMS templates
• Select and authorize Telemarketers (SMS providers)
• Collect and manage subscriber consents
• Ensure all commercial communication complies with TRAI rules
PE ID is unique across all operators in India — one ID, valid everywhere.

🔗 See also: DLT Registration Process → FAQ 03
Q08. What is a Telemarketer (TM) in DLT? What is TM-AF vs TM-DF?
A Telemarketer (TM) is the entity that facilitates the actual delivery of commercial SMS on behalf of Principal Entities. SMSGatewayHub is a registered Telemarketer.
Two types of Telemarketer registration:
TM-AF (Telemarketer — Aggregator Function):
• Aggregates SMS from multiple Principal Entities
• Handles DLT scrubbing and compliance checks
• Does NOT have direct telecom connectivity
• Fee: ₹5,000 one-time
TM-DF (Telemarketer — Delivery Function):
• Has direct connectivity with telecom operators
• Can deliver SMS directly to operators
• Requires IP whitelisting and ₹50,000 security deposit
• Fee: ₹5,000 + ₹50,000 deposit
As a business, you only need PE registration. SMSGatewayHub handles the Telemarketer role on your behalf — managing scrubbing, compliance, and delivery.
✅ Pro Tip: You do not need to register as a Telemarketer unless you are an SMS reseller or aggregator. Simply register as a Principal Entity and link SMSGatewayHub as your TM iD : 1302157243747322354
Q09. Does one DLT registration cover all telecom operators?
Yes — this is one of DLT's biggest advantages. Register ONCE on any single DLT platform and your registration is valid across all telecom operators in India.
Here's how it works:
• You register on, say, Jio Trubloq
• Your Entity ID, Headers, and Templates are published on the blockchain
• All 6 DLT platforms sync this data automatically
• Your SMS reaches subscribers on Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL, TATA — all networks
You do NOT need to:
• Register separately on each operator's DLT platform
• Pay fees multiple times
• Submit documents to every platform
📌 Note: If you register on one platform and later want to log into another platform (e.g., for admin), use the same Entity ID. The data is already synced.
Q10. Do multiple brands need separate DLT registrations?
It depends on whether your brands are separate legal entities:
Case 1 — Same Legal Entity, Multiple Brands:
ONE DLT registration is sufficient. Register multiple headers — one per brand.
Example: A company running BrandA and BrandB under one PAN → one PE registration, two headers (BRANDA and BRANDB).
Case 2 — Separate Legal Entities (Subsidiaries):
Each legal entity must have its OWN DLT registration with its own PAN.
Example: Aditya Birla Fashion Ltd has Pantaloons, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly — each uses templates under one PE, but if they were separate companies, each would need its own registration.
Case 3 — Group Company with Multiple Subsidiaries:
Every separate legal entity = separate DLT registration.
🔗 See also: Header Registration Guide → FAQ 11
SECTION 3 — Headers (Sender ID) Complete Guide
Q11. What is a Sender ID / Header in DLT? How do I choose one?
A Header (Sender ID) is the 6-character name or 6-digit number that appears as the SMS sender on the recipient's phone. It identifies your brand.
Example: If you send from header 'SMSGWH', the recipient sees 'SMSGWH' as the sender name.
Header format rules by message type:
• Transactional & Service SMS: 6 ALPHABETS only (e.g., SHOPGO, BKINFO, HDBANK)
• Promotional SMS: 6 DIGITS only (e.g., 145678, 567890)
Header naming rules:
• No special characters (@, $, %, &, spaces)
• Must relate to your business/brand
• Cannot use: celebrity names, politician names, trademarked brands, obscene words, SEBI/Govt. reserved terms
• Cannot be transferred to another entity
• If inactive for 90+ days, returned to the header pool
✅ Pro Tip: Choose a header that is memorable and brand-relevant. For SMSGatewayHub, good headers would be: SMSGHB, SMSGWH, SMSGTW. Avoid generic headers that may already be taken.
🔗 See also: SMS Types & Header Formats → FAQ 18
Q12. How long does header registration take? What is the validity?
Header Registration Timeline:
• Submission to DLT portal: Instant
• Registrar verification and approval: Up to 60 minutes
• Discrepancy notification (if any): Within 72 hours
Header Validity:
• Approved headers have LIFETIME validity
• Exception: If a header is inactive (zero SMS sent) for more than 90 consecutive days, it is returned to the header pool and becomes available for other entities to register
Best practice to retain your header:
• Send at least one SMS through the header every 60–80 days
• Use SMSGatewayHub's scheduled messaging feature to automate this
Q13. What are restricted / reserved headers in DLT?
TRAI maintains a list of restricted headers that cannot be registered by any Principal Entity or Telemarketer. These include:
• Names of celebrities and public figures (e.g., SACHIN, MODIJI)
• Names of politicians or political parties
• Trademarked brand names of other companies (e.g., AMAZON, PAYTM — unless you are that company)
• Registered company names / brands
• Any obscene or offensive content
• Government/SEBI/RBI-reserved terms (e.g., GOVIND, TRAI, RBI)
• Headers that could mislead subscribers about the sender's identity
⚠️ Warning: Using a restricted or misleading header leads to immediate rejection and may flag your account for review. Always check availability before finalizing a header name.
SECTION 4 — SMS Templates — Registration & Best Practices
Q14. How to register an SMS template on DLT? Step-by-step
Every SMS format you intend to send must be registered as a pre-approved template on DLT. Here's the process:
Step 1: Log in to your DLT portal (VILPower / Trubloq / Airtel etc.)
Step 2: Go to 'Content Template' → 'Add New Content Template'
Step 3: Select Template Type — Promotional / Transactional / Service
Step 4: Choose the Category (Banking, E-commerce, Health, etc.) and your registered Header
Step 5: Write the template content:
• Fixed text: Write exactly as it will appear
• Variable text: Mark with {#var#} format
Step 6: Add your Brand Name in the template (mandatory since Oct 2020)
Step 7: Submit for verification
Step 8: Approval within 60 minutes
Example Approved Template:
'Dear {#var#}, your OTP for {#var#} is {#var#}. Valid for 10 minutes. Do not share. - SMSGWH'
A content template can be used with multiple registered headers.
✅ Pro Tip: Always include your complete brand name or trademark in the template footer. Templates without brand names are rejected since October 11, 2020.
🔗 See also: Template Variable Guide → FAQ 15
🔗 See also: Template Rejection Reasons → FAQ 16
Q15. How to correctly use variables in SMS templates?
Variables are the dynamic parts of your SMS template that change with each message — like customer name, OTP, amount, date, or order number.
Variable format on DLT portals: {#var#}
Rules for using variables:
• Mark every variable clearly using {#var#} during template submission
• The fixed (static) part of the template cannot change after approval
• Only the variable content changes at send time
• Variables cannot contain non-whitelisted URLs (Oct 2024 rule)
• Dynamic URL parameters are only allowed AFTER the query string (?)
✅ Allowed: https://go.brand.com/SMSHeader/?id={#var#}
❌ Not Allowed: https://go.brand.com/{#var#}/page
Multi-variable example:
'Hi {#var#}, your order #{#var#} worth ₹{#var#} is confirmed. Track at {url}. - SHOPGO'
Q16. What are the top reasons for SMS template rejection on DLT?
Here are the 10 most common DLT template rejection reasons:
1. Brand name missing from the template body
2. Promotional content submitted under Transactional category
3. Header and template category mismatch (e.g., promotional header for service template)
4. Variables not properly marked with {#var#} format
5. Non-whitelisted URL embedded in the template (mandatory from Oct 2024)
6. Template contains restricted words (obscene, misleading, illegal content)
7. Duplicate template already registered under the same entity
8. Template too vague — no meaningful business purpose evident
9. URL shorteners used (bit.ly, tinyurl) — these are blocked since Oct 2024
10. Consent template written in a language other than English
✅ Pro Tip: Before submitting, have SMSGatewayHub's compliance team review your template. We catch rejection-causing errors before you submit, saving you 72+ hours of rework.
Q17. Can SMS templates be registered in regional languages (Hindi, Tamil, etc.)?
Yes! DLT supports SMS templates in all languages that use Unicode encoding. This includes:
• Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi
• Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam
• And any other Unicode-supported Indian language
Important differences for regional language SMS:
• Character limit per SMS: 70 characters (vs 160 for English)
• Encoding: Unicode / UTF-16
• Cost: Usually counted as 2x SMS credits per message
• Consent templates: Currently supported in English only
• Whitelisting requirement: Same as English — regional templates must also be whitelisted
SECTION 5 — SMS Types, Delivery Rules & DND
Q18. What is the difference between Transactional, Service, and Promotional SMS?
Here is a complete comparison of all SMS types in India's DLT framework:
| SMS Type | Header Format | Use Cases | Delivery Window | Route |
|---|
| Transactional | 6-Alpha (e.g. ABCXYZ) | OTP, bank alerts, order confirm | 24x7 — DND exempt | White Route |
| Service Implicit | 6-Alpha | Delivery, KYC, school/hospital msgs | 24x7 — DND exempt | White Route |
| Service Explicit | 6-Alpha | Loan offer to existing customer | 10am–9pm, consent reqd | White Route |
| Promotional | 6-Digit numeric | Sales, offers, discounts | 10am–9pm, non-DND only | Promo Route |
🔗 See also: Can OTP reach DND users? → FAQ 20
🔗 See also: Why Promotional SMS doesn't reach DND users → FAQ 21
Q19. What is the difference between Service Implicit and Service Explicit SMS?
Both are sub-categories of Service SMS, but differ in consent requirements:
Service Implicit (No explicit consent needed):
These are messages that arise naturally from the customer's actions or relationship with the sender. DND preferences do not apply.
Examples:
• Bank debit/credit alerts after a transaction
• E-commerce order confirmation and delivery updates
• OTP for app login, social media, e-commerce KYC
• School attendance / transport notifications
• Hospital appointment reminders
• Government / TRAI mandated messages
Service Explicit (Digitally verified consent required):
Messages that don't qualify as implicit but are still service-related. Subscriber must give OTP-verified consent.
Examples:
• Home loan top-up offers to existing loan customers
• Insurance renewal reminders
• Pre-approved credit card offers to existing customers
Note: The February 2025 TRAI amendment tightened Service Explicit rules, making consent verification stricter.
Q20. Can OTP SMS be delivered to DND-registered users?
Yes — OTP messages can and do reach DND users.
OTP messages are classified as Transactional or Service Implicit, which are completely exempt from DND preferences. The DND (Do Not Disturb) registry only blocks Promotional and Service Explicit commercial messages.
For OTP SMS to successfully reach DND users:
✅ Must use a 6-alphabet Transactional header (not a numeric promotional header)
✅ Must use an approved Transactional template
✅ Message must be triggered by an actual banking/transaction/OTP event
✅ Must be sent via a registered Telemarketer (like SMSGatewayHub)
If your OTP SMS is failing for DND users, the likely causes are:
❌ Using a promotional header for OTP — DLT will reject it
❌ Template not registered or template mismatch
❌ Non-DLT registered SMS provider routing your messages
🔗 See also: OTP SMS Service — SMSGatewayHub
Q21. Why do Promotional SMS not reach DND-registered users?
TRAI's TCCCPR regulations explicitly protect consumers who register their Do Not Disturb (DND) preferences. Promotional SMS is a 'solicited' commercial communication that requires prior consent or open preference.
Why promotional SMS is blocked for DND users:
• DND users have registered their preference to not receive commercial promotions
• Telecom operators filter and block promotional traffic for DND numbers at the network level
• This scrubbing happens automatically via DLT before delivery
Promotional SMS restrictions:
• Cannot reach DND-registered users
• Delivery window: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM only
• Must use 6-digit numeric header (140XX series for voice)
• Subject to subscriber's content category preferences
How to reach DND users legally:
• Collect explicit digital consent via OTP on your website/app
• Use WhatsApp Business API (consent-based channel)
• Use RCS Messaging for verified rich media communication

SECTION 6 — Scrubbing, Consent & 2024–2025 TRAI Updates
Q22. What is DLT scrubbing? How does it work?
Scrubbing is the pre-delivery filtering process that DLT performs on every outgoing commercial SMS before it reaches the subscriber's phone.
What scrubbing checks:
1. Is the sender's Header registered and active?
2. Is the SMS Template approved and matches the actual message?
3. Is the recipient on DND? (for promotional/service explicit)
4. Has the recipient given consent to this sender? (if required)
5. Does the content category match the recipient's preferences?
6. Are all CTAs (URLs, phone numbers) whitelisted? (from Oct 2024)
Scrubbing process:
• Telemarketer uploads target list (CSV) to DLT scrubber
• DLT checks all parameters and generates a scrubbed file
• Only 'pass' numbers get the SMS delivered
• Scrubbed file is valid only till 23:59:59 of the same day
• A scrubbing report shows success % (not actual mobile numbers — privacy protected)
SMS types exempt from scrubbing: Transactional and Service Implicit messages go through real-time scrubbing but are never blocked by DND.
Q23. What is CTA / URL whitelisting? What changed in October 2024?
From October 1, 2024, TRAI mandated that ALL Call-to-Action (CTA) elements embedded in SMS must be pre-registered (whitelisted) on the DLT portal before the message can be delivered.
What is a CTA in SMS?
Any element that asks or enables a recipient to take action:
• Website URLs (e.g., https://yourbrand.com/offer)
• App download links (APK files)
• OTT / WhatsApp links
• Callback phone numbers (toll-free, mobile, landline)
• Email addresses
How to whitelist your CTAs:
1. Log into your DLT portal
2. Navigate to 'CTA Whitelisting' section
3. Register each URL / phone number / email
4. It syncs via blockchain to all operators
5. No additional fee (included in annual maintenance)
Strict rules since Oct 2024:
❌ Public URL shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl, t.co) are BANNED
❌ Non-whitelisted URLs in SMS are blocked by all operators
✅ Custom short domains allowed if whitelisted on DLT
✅ Dynamic URL params allowed only after the query string (?)
✅ VILPower offers free URL shortening service (first 60 days free)
⚠️ Warning: Any SMS containing a non-whitelisted URL has been blocked by all telecom operators since October 1, 2024. Audit all your SMS templates NOW and whitelist every URL.
🔗 See also: SMS Template Registration → FAQ 14
Q24. What is the Message Category Suffix system? What changed in May 2025?
Effective May 6, 2025, TRAI implemented the Message Category Suffix system. All A2P (Application-to-Person) SMS headers now automatically carry a one-letter suffix appended by the telecom operator during DLT scrubbing.
The four suffixes:
-P → Promotional message
-S → Service message
-T → Transactional message
-G → Government message
How it appears to recipients:
Before May 2025: Recipient sees 'SMSGWH'
After May 2025: Recipient sees 'SMSGWH-T' (for transactional)
Why TRAI introduced this:
• Greater transparency for consumers — they immediately know the message type
• Helps identify misuse (e.g., promotional content sent as transactional)
• Enables better UCC complaint tracking
What you need to do:
No action required from businesses. The suffix is automatically appended by the operator. Just ensure your SMS template category matches the actual message content.
Q25. What is consent in DLT? What is the difference between Explicit and Inferred consent?
Consent is a subscriber's voluntary permission to receive commercial communication from a specific business.
Explicit Consent:
• Directly given by the subscriber through a verifiable, OTP-authenticated digital action
• Example: Subscriber enters mobile number on your website and verifies via OTP to receive newsletters
• Validity: 12 months (needs renewal after that)
• Required for: Promotional SMS and Service Explicit SMS
• Overrides DND preferences — even DND users can receive messages if they consented
Inferred Consent:
• Reasonably assumed from an existing relationship or the subscriber's conduct
• Example: Customer takes a home loan from a bank → bank can send loan-related updates
• No OTP verification needed
• Applies to: Service Implicit and Transactional messages
Consent acquisition modes:
• SMS (subscriber replies OPT-IN)
• Web portal (OTP verification)
• Mobile app
Key rule: Consent given to a Principal Entity overrides the subscriber's DND preferences for that entity's communications.
🔗 See also: How to Register/Revoke Consent → FAQ 26
Q26. How does a subscriber register or revoke consent on DLT?
Subscribing to consent (Opt-In):
Option 1 — SMS: Reply 'OPT-IN' to the consent acquisition message received from the entity
Option 2 — Web/App: Visit the brand's website/app, enter mobile number, verify via OTP
Revoking consent (Opt-Out):
Option 1 — SMS: Send 'REVOKE' or 'OPT-OUT' to the number specified in the consent message
Option 2 — IVRS: Call the telecom operator's customer support and request revocation
Option 3 — Web/App: Login to the brand's portal with OTP and revoke via consent settings
Consent validity: 12 months from date of registration. After expiry, the entity must re-obtain consent to continue sending promotional/service explicit messages.
Where to view active consents:
Subscribers can log into the DLT portal (e.g., Trubloq) using their mobile number + OTP to view all active and revoked consents.
SECTION 7 — Complaints, Penalties & Blacklisting
Q27. How to file a UCC (spam/unwanted SMS) complaint on DLT?
If you receive an Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC), you can file a complaint through four channels:
1. SMS: Send complaint in standard format to 1909
2. Call: Dial 1909 (IVRS) and follow instructions
3. Email: Send complaint to your telecom operator's support email
4. App/Web: Use the TRAI DND app or your operator's DLT portal
Information required when filing:
• Sender's number / Header / CLI
• Date of receipt
• Time range (optional)
• Message content (for SMS complaints)
• Communication category (Transactional / Service / Promotional)
Complaint timeline:
• Acknowledgement: Within 15 minutes (unique reference number via SMS/email)
• Resolution: Within 72 hours
• Complaint window: Must be filed within 3 days of receiving the UCC
Complaint escalation: If unsatisfied with resolution, escalate via DLT portal login → Complaints → Select complaint → Escalate.
Q28. What are the penalties and consequences of DLT violations? When does blacklisting happen?
TRAI and telecom operators enforce strict penalties for DLT non-compliance.
Scenarios that lead to blacklisting of a Telemarketer:
• Sending continuous UCC (spam) messages to subscribers
• Submitting fraudulent documents during DLT registration
• Failing to produce required business information on request
• Routing messages through unregistered/grey route paths
Consequences of blacklisting:
• All telecom operators are notified within 24 hours
• Blacklisted TM loses telecom resources from ALL operators
• Ban duration: Up to 2 years
• Blacklisted entity name is shared on the public DLT blockchain
Penalties for Principal Entities:
• Heavy financial penalties for UCC violations
• Account suspension and SMS blocking
• Repeated violations can lead to permanent deregistration
Both the Telemarketer AND the Principal Entity can be penalized if commercial communication violates subscriber consent or TRAI preferences.
⚠️ Warning: Using unregistered SMS routes, mismatched templates, or non-whitelisted URLs are the fastest paths to blacklisting. Always send through compliant channels like SMSGatewayHub.
SECTION 8 — Renewal, Account Management & Tracking
Q29. When and how does DLT registration renewal work?
