For years, WhatsApp marked Official Business Accounts with a green check mark, which is why “WhatsApp green tick” is still the common search term in India. Meta has since moved to a blue verified badge so that verification looks the same across its apps. The meaning is unchanged: the badge shows that the account represents a real, notable business and is not an impersonator.
The badge is a trust signal, not a sending feature. It does not by itself change your message pricing, your template approvals or what you can send. Those are set by Meta's pricing and messaging policies, which apply to every business on the platform. You can run campaigns, chatbots and OTPs on the WhatsApp Business API with or without the badge.
